Mashtun

On the nose this had an initial mild sting and whiff of polish before settling down into sweet sherry. We found it bitter on the palate with slight hints of sherry and Turkish delight. The finish was medium and started with a slight burn and tart orange but settled down to end up very smooth. Adding water did open up the dram bringing out sweetness and citrus notes. Be aware that any more than a drop of water could easily ruin this dram. This whisky did divide us and overall we expected a bit more from a dram of its age. In a blind tasting though it would be very easy to appreciate.

Overall = 61/100
