Mashtun notes

The nose on this gave us, treacle, roses, dark chocolate, sherry, raisons, and old leather. On the palate we got sherry, burnt toast, maple syrup, old leather, and Madeira wine. The finish was tangy and had hints of sulphur, oak, Madeira wine, and burnt sugar. The colour was rusty red and it had a lovely full bodied texture. A little air lightens the sherry notes on this dram but doesn’t do much else. Adding water dulls the sweetness and opens this whisky up nicely. Some may find the intensity of the sherry flavours too much but we really enjoyed this. If you can handle a ‘big sherried’ whisky then you will love it! We couldn’t drink a lot in one sitting but it’s definitely something we’d go back to.

Overall Mash Tun Score = 75/100

Sherry, burnt sugar, Madeira wine, a warm burn in the gut, and then old leather!

Finish:

Medium, sherry, and old Madeira wine
