Macallan Gold

Macallan Gold

Macallan Gold

Mashtun notes:

On the nose we got citrus fruits, Werther’s Originals, figs, and vanilla. The palate had that Macallan familiarity about it. We got citrus, vanilla, spices, and walnut whips. The finish was short and tangy with hints of malt and vanilla. The colour was a deep amber gold and the texture was light, smooth, and creamy. Letting the dram breathe doesn’t do much and overall and we felt it didn’t need any water.

Overall we found this dram nicely balanced and easy to drink. If you like a Macallan you will enjoy this dram.

Overall MashTun Score = 71/100

Macallan Gold

Nose:   Lemon citrus, then orange peel and an interlacing sweetness that softens but doesn't eliminate the zest. A quiet note of vanilla is followed by dark chocolate with lingering floral and light oak notes.

Palate: Citrus and boiled sweets rule the palate, along with hints of ginger and cinnamon, while soft oak tones reveal toasted apples.

Finish: Medium sweet, malty and slightly dry

Notes:  40% ABV – Matured sherry casks. This is from their 1824 range (Amber, Gold, Sienna, and Ruby) that commemorates the year the distillery was founded. There are no age statements of any of the whiskies, they are instead named after their natural cask colours.
