Mashtun notes:

This is a great wee dram! On the nose it was zesty and citrusy. It also had mint, vanilla, barley, bourbon, and floral (heather and lavender) notes. The palate gave us vanilla, citrus fruits, white pepper, and Parma violets. The finish was smooth with toffee, citrus, and a slight bitterness towards the end - but in a good way. The colour was light gold and the texture was soft but oily. Letting this dram breath brought out additional floral and citrus notes as well as mellowing the whole experience.

This is one of those whiskies that are just a pleasure to drink. It’s vibrant, citrusy, and very well balanced. It has that classic Speyside feel but with a lavender/floral twist. Most of the Linkwood spirit goes into blends so we are glad they produce a malt to show us just what they can do!

Overall MashTun Score = 73/100

Bring a botanical garden into your lounge when you uncap this Speyside wonder from the Flora and Fauna collection. The scents of fruit orchards, flowers and the perfume of a beautiful woman precede a civilized, complex dram of distinction. Not surprisingly, the Linkwood Distillery sits in a garden of its own, a secluded, leafy corner of the Highlands.

Notes: 43% ABV – 12 years old. £40 at the time of tasting. The distillery known as Linkwood has had various incarnations. The original distillery was built in 1821 on the southern outskirts of Elgin by one Peter Brown. However, his distillery was completely demolished and rebuilt by his son William in the 1870s. A new still house with four new stills was added in the 1970s and is now the focus of malt production - the old wash backs are the only part of the old distillery still in use today.
